Email announcing that Nordic designer Lasse Klein had taken another step toward production of his alien abduction lamp
arrived while I was watching Crusade on Joost.
Klein's email said "The Alien Abduction Lamp is finally moving from concept to product, and some important decision have to be made."
He asked me (and some large number of other people, of course) to take the kind of survey often used to learn what a product's market wants.
I hope to give one abduction lamp to each of my sons, although the lamp may be more George Rankin's kind of present than Jack's.
They're long past childhood. Yet there are still "two brothers," and therefore if production and price point create the opportunity, there will be two lamps given.
I do have this extravagant vision of each flying-saucer lamp wired for sound and annually repurposed for an amusing place amid various seasonal celebrations.
Easter Bunny abductions, Santa abductions, birthday-person abductions and the like could be arranged in annual succession through changes in supporting props and surrounding decor.
It could be almost as much fun as and not a bit more fantastic than the tooth fairy.
