Fair Trade Christmas Olive Oil
Chocolate isn't the only seasonal fair-trade foodstuff. Nor is refusal to countenance slavery inevitably a part of choosing fair-trade products over others.

Import Peace is non-profit organization that sells high-quality, fair-trade, USDA organic olive oil produced in Palestine.
It was founded by a group of 100 Presbyterians in response to the frustration, pain and poverty of the people of the Palestinian Occupied Territories during a 2006 trip with the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program.
The project is based on a sound business plan, as Pat Cole wrote for Presbyterian Mission Communications:
As a retired sales and marketing professional, Mann knew that research and a business plan would be crucial to the venture's success. A year of data collection included trips to Chicago, San Francisco and Toronto to visit other groups importing Palestinian olive oil. "We got resounding support and encouragement to go forward," he says.
They help Palestinians by purchasing wholesale quantities of olive oil, thus helping assure producers a reasonable price for their work, and divides two dollars of the price of each bottle sold among three charities in Palestine.
Promotion is through personal contact and their Web site.
