About George Frink (gwfrink3) who writes here
Grew up on a North Carolina swamp-country farm
I was fortunate to have four wonderful grandparents. There was no childhood. My grandparents' guidance, protection and nurture were life itself.
While I was young in the house on Honeyhill Road, summers were the ususal before-dawn until after-sunset and "What's a holiday?" schedule in the fields. School meant fieldwork started later in the day, unless I had an athletic practice to attend. As a result, my Powell cousins and I played every sport for which we could make the team.
It seemed entirely natural to keep the cows fed and so on while reading a lot, playing football, running track, presiding over the infant Spanish club, attending Methodist Youth Fellowship and doing a variety of experiments in my household utility room science lab.
There was no high, Hallsboro School price for being something of what is now called a "nerd." My highschool classmates and I were, on the whole, supportive of one another. We greatly enriched and sometimes saved each another's lives.
I went off to North Carolina Statue University and frequent visits notwithstanding, mostly to see my grandparents, I really never returned.
That is to be celebrated. Dianne and I reared two sons (George and Jack). Both have their own, growing lists of accomplishments. Jack completed his MS in Computer Science in May (2006). George is on his way to an advanced degree. My daughter, Markell, is a distinguished professional artist.
